Once Upon a Date: April 22, 1998 – Animal Kingdom opens at Walt Disney World

On April 22, 1998 Animal Kingdom opened its gates to guests. April 22 is a special day as it is also Earth Day. Animal Kingdom is house to approximately 1000 animals and more than 150 species have reproduced at the park since opening.
