WDW News Today reports that there are rumors that there are plans to tear down Sleeping Beauty Castle at Hong Kong Disneyland. When the park opened in 2005, a carbon copy of Sleeping Beauty Castle from California was built. Now that Shanghai Disneyland has opened and it featuring the giant Storybook Castle, it seems like Hong Kong Disneyland wants to have a bigger park icon as well.
Second Expansion Phase
Replacing Sleeping Beauty Castle would be part of a rumored second expansion phase of the park that would include new attractions as well. The last expansion phase added Mystic Manor, Grizzly Gulch, and Toy Story Land to the park.
An announcement from Disney is expected soon.
