How to Buy a Candy Cane
For many Disney fans, this is an event you must to experience and taste! Part of the excitement is that it is not your average conveyor belt store bought candy cane. It is a fresh hand-made candy cane with real peppermint infused.
You need to plan ahead in order to snag one of the wristbands. Prepare to arrive before opening of the respective park and do take into account extra magic hours. Head straight to the bakery where either a makeshift line will be formed by guests. Cast members will distribute one wristband to each guest and provide a return time. During our 2014 trip, the return time was on our bracelets.
The Process of Making Candy Canes
If you are unable to get a wristband, don’t fret. The second best thing is watching the process to make the sweet treat. It’s amazing to see the amount of time and labor it takes to make a single batch of candy canes. As mentioned, this is labor intensive and the baking workroom is kept warm around 100 degrees to work with the hard candy. Three batches are made each day that produce around 40 candy canes per batch. You will be mesmerized by the process and how they can manipulate such a difficult substance and be sure to watch when they put the fresh peppermint oil into the batch — the smell is potent!
