October will see significant changes being made to the Extra Magic Hours at Disneyland Paris. From October 1st, Extra Magic Hours will be split between Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios. Each park will get one Extra Magic Hour. Both Disneyland Paris and Walt Disney Studios open at 10am, with Extra Magic Hours starting at 9am.
Only Fantasyland during Extra Magic Hours
But the change in timing will not be the only change. According to rumors, also which attractions that will be available during Extra Magic Hours will change. Disneyland Park will only see attractions at Fantasyland part of Extra Magic Hours, meaning that Discoveryland will no longer be part of the offering. Fantasyland attractions that will be open; Dumbo, Peter Pan, Tea Cups, Le Carrousel de Lancelot and the Princess Pavilion. Whereas Walt Disney Studios park would normally open up completely during Extra Magic Hours, with the changes coming October, only Ratatouille and Crush’s Coaster will be open.
While the change in timing is understandable, the change in the offering isn’t. When we use Extra Magic Hours, we tend to get some rides in at Discoveryland, and maybe one extra ride at Fantasyland. After that we enjoy the atmosphere of the park, have some light breakfast and maybe meet a character (or two).
Cutting out the attractions at Discoveryland might see a shift in guests entering the park in the early morning hour. This might have been done to move those guests over to Walt Disney Studios Park for them to enjoy Crush and Ratatouille.
Princess Pavilion Meet ‘n Greet
The Meet ‘n Greet at the Princess Pavilion being part of the Extra Magic Hours makes sense. Wait times are always high, and while they used to offer a Fastpass, this is not the case at the moment. Making a run for it in the morning during EMH is the only possibility if you don’t want to have to wait hours at an end to meet one of the princesses.
